**Port Huon pool closed as at 18 October 2023 for major refurbishment**
While the pool will be closed temporarily to allow for the refurbishment, other facilities in the Port Huon Sports Centre, such as the gym and playing courts, will remain open.

Project update: Port Huon pool refurbishment
Major works for the refurbishment of the Port Huon Sports Centre pool lining are complete and Council’s contractor is now focusing on completing the ancillary items, including new bench seating and fittings.
Concurrently, planning and design works are underway to upgrade the pool hall ventilation and heating system. These works were originally scheduled to start later in the calendar year, but on completion of the detailed design, it was revealed that the ventilation upgrade must be completed before the pool hall can be reopened. Electrical upgrades are also needed to accommodate the requirements of the new air handling system.
“While several components of the ventilation system upgrade fall under Council’s asset renewal program, we are applying for grant funding to assist with the electrical system upgrade, including solar panels, roof insulation, double glazing on hall windows, and additional roof purlins to handle extra solar panel weight,” said Mayor Sally Doyle.
Council anticipates re-opening the Port Huon pool in August 2024.
“We acknowledge that re-opening the pool later in the year will be disappointing to many, but we are confident that it will be worth the wait. The new pool, pool hall, and ventilation system will allow us to comfortably maintain heated pool water temperatures and provide a safe and comfortable pool hall environment,” said Mayor Doyle.
