Walking Groups
Heart Foundation Walking Groups in the Huon Valley – Coordinated and promoted by Huon Valley Council
The major objective of Walking Groups is to provide a free and ongoing support system to encourage people of all ages, to be involved in physical activity and do some gentle exercise.

The walking program is free and is supported by the Huon Valley Council and operated through the Community Development Program.

‘Mah Jong Monday’ is a great opportunity to meet people, have fun and keep your mind active!
Come along and play the ancient game of mah jong. You don’t need to know how to play to come along. The friendly group are more than happy to teach you!
Participation is by a gold coin donation. Tea, coffee and a snack provided.
Positive Ageing
Council’s Community Development Program provides programs and activities for seniors that helps keep them connected to and active members of the community.
Cuppa Conversations are held around the Huon Valley providing talks covering topics relevant to the older residents of our community.

Health Promotion and Activities
It’s important to encourage and promote an active, healthy and engaged lifestyle for everyone in the Huon Valley.
Council’s Health and Wellbeing Program offers information sessions and activities on a range of health education, health promotion and preventative health activities.
The health and wellbeing program is assisted by funding from the Tasmanian Health Service.
School Holiday Programs
Every school holidays Council’s Community Development Program run a holiday program catering for young people from 12 – 17 years. Offering opportunities to grow and learn from new experiences – Our holiday programs are created from a mix of fun adventure and creativity.
